Phthalates

Phthalates are a group of chemicals called plasticizers.  These ingreidents are used to make plastic harder to break and more flexible.   Occasionally used as solvents in cosmetics. (Frequently used is Dibutylphthalate (DBP) used in nailpolishes)

Suspected hormone disruptors, increase the risks of allergies and asthma.  Freely released into the environment where they leech into soils, plants, waterways and fish.  Possible carcinogen.
